Reduce double-booking risk when using iCal calendar sync

iCal synchronization can block dates across booking channels, but it is not instantaneous. A reliable host workflow combines correct feed setup, refresh awareness, and a final availability check before manual commitments.

Where double-booking risk comes from

The common failure mode is a timing gap: one channel receives a reservation, but another channel has not refreshed the imported calendar yet. Incorrect or missing feed connections can create the same problem.

A visual combined calendar cannot remove refresh latency, but it can make missing blocks and unexpected overlaps easier to detect.

Use a simple verification routine

Before accepting a manual or direct booking, refresh the connected feeds and inspect the requested dates across every source. If a channel reports a synchronization problem, treat its availability as uncertain until confirmed.

  • Keep a record of which feeds are connected to each listing.
  • Refresh or verify calendars before manual bookings.
  • Do not assume a newly created reservation has propagated instantly.
  • Escalate to a channel manager when the cost of sync delay is too high.

Frequently asked questions

Why can a double booking happen even when calendars are connected?

iCal feeds are refreshed periodically. A reservation can exist on one channel before another channel imports the updated feed.

Does combining feeds in the studio prevent bookings?

No. The studio is a visibility tool. It helps you inspect availability but does not control inventory on booking platforms.
